Overview
Overview
This is an introduction to Ceramics techniques and methods which address the Massachusetts Visual Arts Frameworks. This is a full-year course starting with hand building techniques such as pinch-pots, coil vessels, solid sculpture-removed, soft slab and hard slab construction. Projects are technique driven but students are expected to employ personalization, self-expression, and historical and cultural influences. There is a strong emphasis on the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, Methods and Materials, Critiques, Studio practices and maintenance, and Exhibition of final projects.
