Overview
The High School Photography Program provides a comprehensive curriculum aligned with Massachusetts Art Education Standards. Offering four levels of digital photography courses, including an Advanced Placement (AP) option, students gain access to Nikon cameras, a variety of accessories, diverse lighting setups, and additional lenses for immersive, hands-on learning experiences.
Course Descriptions:
Digital Photography 1:
Format: Entirely digital
Software: Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
Description: Foundation course introducing core digital photography concepts. Focus on camera operation, composition, and post-processing using Adobe tools. Hands-on projects explore various photography genres, nurturing individual artistic voices.
Digital Photography 2:
Format: Digital and Traditional Darkroom Methods
Software: Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
Description: Building on Digital Photography 1, this course delves deeper into technical and creative aspects of digital photography. Introduces traditional darkroom techniques, connecting students with photography's historical roots.
Digital Photography 3:
Format: Advanced Digital Techniques and Traditional Darkroom Methods
Software: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
Description: Advanced-level course refining technical proficiency and creative expression. Explores specialized techniques like advanced retouching, compositing, and advanced lighting setups. Encourages pushing the boundaries of digital photography.
Digital Photography 4 (AP):
Format: College-Level Coursework (AP Portfolio Preparation)
Software: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
Description: Prepares students' for the AP Studio Art exam through college-level coursework. Focus on building an extensive portfolio showcasing mastery of various photographic techniques, styles, and concepts. Emphasis on cultivating a unique artistic vision.
